Dante Andreo

Córdoba (Argentina) 1949

An Argentinian composer residing in Spain, Dante’s music is based fundamentally on vocal repertoire, both religious and secular. He is very interested in Spanish poetry and many of his compositions are based on the texts of authors such as Garcia Lorca, Juan Ramon Jimenez and Alberti, to name but a few.

His work is full of allusions to elements from both Spanish and Latin American folklore (No lloreis mis ojos- Don’t cry my eyes and Navidad en Hispanoamerica- Christmas in Latin America). Throughout his career as a composer he has been awarded various prizes, and is artistic advisor to the Confederacion Coral Española- Spanish Confederation of Choirs.

Due to his great experience in conducting choirs and interpreting ancient Spanish music, Dante has been invited to give courses and conferences in many places throughout Spain and Latin America.

He lives in Madrid (Spain) since 1976.
