“Lau euskal abesti” consists of four songs from Basque folklore arranged to be sung optionally by one or two voices of children. These are easy songs with a comfortable tessitura. The goal is for children to learn to sing simple musical phrases with good choral sound, intonation, and blend while becoming familiar with Basque folklore. The piano part is slightly more demanding, yet always remains within a tonal harmony. These four songs, very suitable even for children’s choirs with little experience, can be performed separately by omitting the piano links between each one, although they are intended to be sung consecutively.
