Josema García Hormigo
He studied composition at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón.
In 2017, his Vengan las ánimas for a cappella choir premiered at the Teatro Principal in Zaragoza, performed by the Chamber Choir of the C.S.M.A. under the direction of Elena Ruiz-Ortega.
In 2020, he won the 41st International Frédéric Mompou Award with the piece Neon Issues: Duo for Saxophone and Accordion.
In 2021, he participated in the Innopraktika and Russians Seasons 2021 Musical Session, a scholarship for a three-week residency in Saint Petersburg to compose a work for orchestra.
In 2022, he premiered an opera for choir, actors, and ensemble commissioned by the Fundación Goya, titled Francisco de Goya: Con la música a otra parte.
Recently, he has received commissions from the Saulus Festival (Zaragoza), the Nubah Choir (Granada), and the Ejea de los Caballeros Choral Competition (Zaragoza).
He combines his work as a composer with creating music for audiovisual projects.
